Medes Islands - L’Estartit - Spain 2010

In the summer of 2010 I spent my summer holidays at the Spanish Costa Brava. For years I wanted to dive at the Medes Islands near L’Estartit because I’d read and heared a lot about it. I was not disapointed in the dives I made. Allready in the First dive I spotted over 10 Eagle rays which I also spotted in the several dives which followed. Of course I also spotted the large groupers which are curious towards divers.

Striking are the large sholes of fish which are present each dive. If you take a good look you’ll always spot the octopuses and murray eels between the crevices and holes in the Rocky surface.

I enjoyed diving using the services of the Aquatica Dive Center located on the Rifort camping site in the centre of L’Estartit. The centre is run by Miguel Coll, a PADI Course director and Eli Framis who’s a PADI Assistant Instructor and shipmaster. The management of the dive centre is assisted by several divemasters and instructors. One can communicate in both French and English (besides Spanish and Catalan).

I enjoyed diving enough to return to L’Estartit in 2011 again.
